Glider Pilot Training

Earn your soaring wings! The glider rating requires
no medical exam or TSA
security background checks. The minimum age to solo is 14 years old, and 16 to become fully licensed. Minimum flight requirements are a total of 10 hours for those without any other type of pilot license, and just 3 hours if you want to add this rating to your existing pilot license. However, most if not all people need more time than the minimum to develop safe flying skills.
Flying gliders is one of the best ways to improve your flying skills!

All training is conducted in a motorglider, which allows much faster training.  There is no waiting around for tow planes, and maneuvers can be repeated without having to stop due to loss of attitude. Both the Private Pilot Glider Rating and the Commercial Glider Pilot Rating are available.

Glider Self-Launch Endorsement Program

Earn your Glider Self-Launch Endorsement. This requires about three hours of training if you already have your glider rating, and focuses mainly on engine management, operating rules pertaining to powered flight, and radio communications. This training is done according to the instructions provided in FAA Advisory Circular 61-94
"Pilot Transition Course For Self-Launching or Powered Sailplanes (Motorgliders)."
